WINEMAKING PROCESS
Grown in Beechworth on granite at 350m elevation, these grapes were sourced from the Malsem vineyard on the Woolshed Falls side of Town. Picked in February 2023, the grapes were basket-pressed, fermented and aged in small old (4yo) oak barrels for 12 months. With no malolactic fermentation in the process, you'll notice very subtle stone fruit notes on the nose with a hint of toasted nuttiness coming from the lees. The palate offers lots of textures and a beautiful finish.

THE LABEL STORY
Like each of our labels, the Chardonnay design is inspired by a visionary historical woman. French-American artist Louise Bourgeois is the inspiration behind the elegant outlined frame of this particular label. Known for her sculptural and structural installation pieces, her works explored themes of human relationships across a relentlessly inventive seven decade career. We picked 'Louise' as our feature based on artistic, playful characteristics shared with Juliette's baby sister back home in France.

REVIEWS
"Barbera gets serious and it's simply too good to ignore. Have to admire the producer for showing the savoury, darker side of the grape while also embracing a lovely elegance. Fragrant in dried herbs, aniseed, woodsmoke, black cherry and plum. There's plenty of detail on the palate, with additional layers of cured meats and red earth mixing nicely with finely textured tannins and bright acidity."
